Stats and Influence

Character Stats

Your characters' stats decide how well they fair during combat or casual RP. In this section, we'll provide a quick run-down on how they operate.

  • Dexterity:

    • AKA agility, this stat represents a character's nimbleness. Small and lithe characters are more likely to have higher dexterity stat, as well as characters with fine motor skills.

  • Constitution:

    • A character's robustness and how well they fare under duress. A character who can take a large amount of damage or is known for their endurance might have a higher constitution score.

  • Strength:

    • A character's physical power.

  • Intelligence:

    • A combination of how much a character knows and how well they problem-solve.

  • Wisdom:

    • A gauge of your character's street-smarts and how much Common Sense they have.

  • Charisma:

    • The force of your character's personality and how well they can sway others towards their opinion.

  • Influence

    • How influential your character is in-universe. This is not a stat that can be rolled for, but it grants you the ability to make certain purchases and can affect your character's RP's.

When creating your character you will be allowed 30 stat Points to distribute. You cannot allocate more than 10 points to one stat.

Think about the kind of character you are creating when doing this. A Clydesdale centaur is much more likely to have a high strength stat while an eagle Harpy is more likely to have a high agility stat.

Stats in RPs

Players are absolutely allowed to roll stats in order to make regular RPs more interactive, more spicy.

Discuss among yourselves on what you should roll for what situations but some examples would be,

  • Dexterity: Running away/from something, jumping around, catching someone/something,

  • Constitution: Getting sick from something, noticing if someone bumped into you or you get toppled over, pain tolerance for a mosquito bite

  • Strength: Being able to help the neighbor carry something, being able to punch through a wall

  • Intelligence: Being able to tell if someone is lying, being able to read a note, reading the room

  • Widsom: Are you gullible? Noticing things in your surroundings, being able to sense some sort of danger

  • Charisma: FLIRTING, ability to lie, trying to distract someone, trying to calm someone down/or angering them

Isn't required but it's for some good ol' fun.

Gaining Stats

Your character will gain half (.5) a Stat point for every finished RP that is submitted to the group.

So basically 1 stat point for every 2 RPs.

Magick and Elysian Magic

The world of Media Terra is a magical one, it is an unquestioned fact of life.

Magick is a skill that can be built off of, but it is also an inborn trait. Some are born with the ability to use magick, while others have no access to it at all. To become somewhat proficient at using it takes intense study and dedication.

Learning to use magick is sort of like learning to play a very challenging instrument.

Elysian Magic is another beast entirely. It is the magic of the island. It is the blue fire of Outlyr, it is the Will O' Whisps in the woods, the figures in a dust devil, the ancestral thread of the ocean.

Elysian magic is daunting and unknowable, it is instantly recognizable. It is watched through the window and revered in song.

Magic and Your Characters

Yes, your characters can use magick. Using magick is uncommon and is ordinarily an inborn trait. A child might be able to summon a small flame, see in the dark, or frost a windowpane.

These abilities do not usually advance past their original forms unless actively practiced.

It is reasonably rare for a child to use magick, but it isn't unheard of. Perhaps 1 in every 50 children is born with magickal abilities. Also, people tend to have affinities for particular kinds and skillsets of magicks. For instance, if a child can create a small flame it'd be easier to master breathing fire than it would be to freeze water.

If you'd like your character to use magick, please ask the mods if your idea would work. No overpowered abilities would be accepted and you must have a reasonable idea of what your character can and can't do with magick.

Magic in Roleplays

In this RP, magick does not have a stat. Being able to use magick does not make your character more powerful than non-magickal characters.

Using magick in combat works like any other maneuver and relies on the stats you already have. If you'd like to use offensive magick, your role for INT, if you'd like to use defensive magick use CON.

You can also use magick casually for small things. Like lighting up a room or heating up food.
