The Plainslands

The Agrarian Life

Though not all centaurs are farmers, it is a well-known fact that many are. Centaurs are also known for their love of large pastures with room to roam and soil to till.

The plain lands of centaurs cultivate most of Media' Terra's supply of grain, wheat, and barley. They also grow various vegetables, fruits such as apples and pears.

Centaurs are also often cattle drivers and sheepherders. These animals are bred not to be eaten but for their hide and milk. Not many centaurs consume animal products, though they have been known to sell their livestock to other Kingdoms on the islands.

Golden Fields

Despite the humble living most centaurs make, the wealth of this kingdom is no secret.

Due to their food production, most centaurs live somewhat comfortably. This kingdom also holds financial power over many of its counterparts due to the sheer amount of exports this land yields.

Very few centaurs actually live grandiose lifestyles, but almost none live in abject poverty. Though, this can quickly change depending on a year's harvest. When the economy relies on crop production a cold snap can quickly become catastrophic.

Tight-Knit

Like their equine counterparts, centaurs are social creatures who form close bonds to those within their family units.

Most are known to be loyal and compassionate towards those they care for.

Centaurs don't often leave their family until well into adulthood, or never leave it at all. This is partly due to the fact that most centaurs inherit their land and career from their parents.

If a centaur refuses to continue in its parent's hoof-steps it can be seen as scorn on the family name and they can even be evicted from the unit. Gossip and familial pride are also known to run rampant within centaur communities.

Some centaurs who have lost ties with their parents move on to create equally valuable adopted families of their own.

A History of Aggression

In recent times centaurs are known for their humble abodes and easy living, but this has not always been the case. Though not aggressive creatures, centaurs are a historically stubborn folk.

In the past, they have battled for their land, the coveted Golden Hills of the island. These sieges were largely pioneered by the Harpies who now reside in the Northern Isles. The flying creatures were once content to live in the Eastern Woods and among the Southen Cliffs until they lay siege to the centaur's homeland.

The war lasted several decades until Centaurian forces fully invaded the forest to the south. They fought the harpies until their numbers dwindled and they could no longer stand to fight for their land. The harpies were then exiled to the Northern Isles, a cold, frozen ocean.

Though this war ended some 500 years in the past, it is still a large stain on the centaur's history. Many today are ashamed of the actions of their ancestors, while some resent the harpies for challenging the right to their home.

To this day, no harpies have lived among the Golden Plains nor in the Southern Forest. It is a largely uninhabited land, littered with the remnants of an ancient war.
